Monitoring Microsoft
XP/Vista/2000/2003
How frequently are you monitoring the disk
usage on your Windows servers? Are you aware of the fact that many
server applications, including Exchange(r) will fail if it runs out
of disk space. And it may currupt the database so you may have to
restorte a backup of the whole database after freeing disk
space. A seriously time consuming event with high risk of data
loss. The Host Resource Monitor of Q3ADE 3G will
monitor you disks and generate alarms soon enough to give you time
to resolve the issue before it leads to catastrophic failures.
How frequently are you monitoring the
Windows Event Log? Serious problems like security breaches,
configruation errors etc. which has resulted in system failures,
could have been detected and resolved at an early state
by checking the Windows Event Log. The Windows Event
Log Monitor of Q3ADE 3G captures the major events and generates
alarms that catches your attention.
The
Host Resource Monitor
Host Resources like disk, memory and CPU'se may
be monitored on hosts with the SNMP service enabled.
You get a graphical illustration of the actual
status of the resources.
The CPU monitor also captures the CPU'se
history, which may be displayed by a click on the CPU meter.
Each resource monitor may issue an alarm if the
resource usage exceeds a specified level (as in the picture, where
the C-disk space is more than 90% full. The alarm levels can be
tailored individually as needed.
The Windows Event Log
Monitor
The Windows Event Log is a key information
resource to the health of a Windows Server. Q3ADE 3G therefore
monitors the Event Logs of Windows Servers.
The Windows Log is displayed in a windows-like
fashion including lead text and additional information attached to
the events.
You may browse the Windows Event Log of all
Windows Servers.
The Windows Event Log Monitor by default issues
alarms on Error and Warning events. But you may profile the alarm generation down
to individual types of windows events. Imagine that this function,
combined with the automatic AMF alert function, allows you to set up
an automatic alert via e-mail to the system administration, e.g. if
some device or application fails abnormally. Ultimately, you may
even design your own scripts scanning through the windows event log
to pick up and process any windows event on any windows computer for
any purpose.
